How do I import contacts into Agent Studio?#
Upload a CSV with a header row and Agent Studio does the mapping for you. The whole run takes about a minute for a typical list.
Import your list
Step 1: Export your list as CSV
From a spreadsheet choose Save as CSV. From another CRM, run its contact export.Step 2: Open the import dialog
On Contacts, choose Import CSV. Pick your file and the dialog shows roughly how many contacts it found.Import contactsStep 3: Tag the batch
Under Tags for every imported contact, add a tag such asimported-octorwebinarso the group is one filter away.Step 4: Choose how to treat existing contacts
Leave Update contacts that already exist on to fill in new details. Blank cells never erase saved details.Step 5: Import and review
Choose Import contacts. The summary shows how many were created, updated and skipped, any rows with errors, and How the columns were read.Step 6: Save the group
Filter Contacts by your import tag and choose Save as smart list, then start a welcome or reactivation automation on it.Open Contacts
Which columns map automatically?#
Agent Studio reads the header names most exports use, including Google Contacts and Outlook formats. Anything it does not recognize is kept as a custom field named after the header.
| Contact field | Headers that map to it |
|---|---|
| First name | First name, Firstname, Given name, First |
| Last name | Last name, Surname, Family name, Last |
| Full name | Name, Full name, Contact name |
| Email, Email address, E-mail, E-mail 1 - Value | |
| Phone | Phone, Phone number, Mobile, Cell, Phone 1 - Value |
| Company | Company, Company name, Organization, Business name |
| Tags | Tags, Tag, Labels (split on commas, semicolons or pipes) |
| Source | Source, Lead source |
| Address | Address, Street, City, State, Province, Zip, Postal code, Country |
| Owner | Owner, Assigned to, Contact owner |
| Other | Job title, Website, Time zone, Birthday (YYYY-MM-DD) |
What happens to duplicates and bad rows?#
Duplicates merge into the contact you already have, and bad rows are listed so you fix them in seconds. Each row is matched by email first, then phone.
- Update contacts that already exist on: matched contacts get the new details, and empty cells leave saved values alone.
- Turned off: matched contacts keep their details, and the import tags still apply to them.
- Rows with no name, email, phone or company are skipped and counted.
- Rows that fail validation are listed by row number with the reason, so you correct them and re-import only those.
How do I move my contacts from GoHighLevel?#
Export contacts from GoHighLevel's Contacts page as a CSV, then import that file here. Standard columns map on their own, GoHighLevel tags come across in the Tags column, and every custom field column lands as an Agent Studio custom field.
Select all contacts, use the export action to download the CSV, then upload it with Import CSV. Tag the batch from-ghl to keep it easy to find.
Export in Google CSV format. Headers like E-mail 1 - Value and Phone 1 - Value map without edits.
Put one contact per row with a header row on top, then Save as CSV. Name the columns First name, Last name, Email and Phone for an instant match.
Once your list is in, sort it with tags and smart lists in Contacts and send your first email campaign.
