Track which ads and pages make your phone ring

Quick answer

Agent Studio call tracking credits every inbound call to the campaign that caused it. In CRM → Settings → Phone, add a call tracking source with its UTM tags, then give it one tracking number or a pool your site swaps in per visitor. Calls land in Reporting → Attribution beside your form leads, with the deals and revenue they turned into.

What you'll have

  • A tracking number or number pool for each campaign you run
  • Calls credited to the exact ad, source and landing page that drove them
  • Calls, leads and revenue side by side in your attribution report

What is call tracking and why does it matter?#

Call tracking ties each phone call to the marketing that produced it. Without it, a call from your Google ad looks the same as a call from a yard sign, and you keep paying for channels that never ring. Agent Studio maps every tracking number to a UTM source, medium and campaign, so calls count in the same reports as form fills.

  • 2ways to track: one number per campaign, or a pool swapped per visitor
  • 30minutes a pool number stays with one visitor by default

Should I use one tracking number or a number pool?#

Use one number when the campaign lives offline or in a single ad; use a pool when one website page gets traffic from many sources and you want each visit credited.

Pick One tracking number and you print or publish that number on the campaign: a flyer, a truck wrap, a Google Business Profile, a radio spot. Every call to it is credited to the source's UTM tags.

  • Works anywhere a phone number appears
  • No code on your site
  • One number per campaign keeps the report clean

How do I set up call tracking in Agent Studio?#

Add a call tracking source

0 of 5 done

  1. Step 1: Add the numbers

In CRM → Settings → Phone, use Find numbers in the Numbers panel to add one number per campaign, or several for a pool.
    Open Phone settings
  2. Step 2: Name the source and tag it

In the call tracking panel, give the source a Name such as Google Ads, then fill utm_source (google), utm_medium (cpc) and utm_campaign.
  3. Step 3: Pick how numbers work

Under Numbers, choose One tracking number or A pool swapped in per visitor, tick the numbers to use, and press Add source.
  4. Step 4: Paste the pool script

For a pool, copy the script tag shown on the source row and paste it into your site's head or footer. It swaps your site number for a pool number on each visit.
  5. Step 5: Read the results

Open Reporting → Attribution to see calls credited by source next to form leads, deals and revenue.
    Open Attribution

Where do tracked calls show up?#

A tracked call does three jobs at once. The caller's contact gets the source as a touch, exactly like a form fill. The call counts in Reporting → Attribution by source. And every rule on the number still runs: your AI receptionist answers, a missed call still gets its text back, and the conversation lands in your inbox.

Questions buyers ask#

Does dynamic number insertion hurt my local SEO?

No. The pool script swaps the number in the visitor's browser, so your real number stays in the page source that search engines and AI crawlers read. Keep the real number on your Google Business Profile and site schema.

How many numbers should a pool have?

Enough to cover the visitors on your site at the same time within the session length you set. A busier page needs a larger pool so each visitor keeps their own number until the lease ends.

Can I track calls from Google Ads and Facebook Ads separately?

Yes. Add one source per platform with its own utm_source and numbers. With a pool, each visit is credited to the visitor's own UTM tags and click ids, so one pool covers every platform that sends traffic to that page.

Do tracking numbers still use my AI receptionist and call rules?

Yes. A tracking number is a regular number on the account, so How it answers applies to it like any other: forwarding, greeting, recording and Voice AI.
