What is a self-driving AI company?#
A self-driving company is a team of AI employees that takes execution and coordination off your plate while you choose where the company goes. You set the destination and the objectives. The CEO agent routes work to department leads, leads route it to workers, and every piece of work has to pass a check before it counts as done.
Each nightly cycle runs five phases: goals (where each objective stands), context (budgets, lessons and your answers), work (tasks tagged to the objective they serve), check (proof plus objective movement) and escalate (decisions opened for you). A short retrospective then writes lessons the next plan reads, so the company sharpens its context every night.
- 4autonomy tiers: Off, Plan, Assist, Drive
- 5phases in every nightly cycle
- 6ledger-backed objective metrics
- 12lessons kept, at most 3 new per cycle
How do I start an AI company?#
Found it, then point it somewhere
Step 1: Describe the company
Open Found a company and describe what it should do. Review the proposed departments and employees before anything runs.Found a companyStep 2: Set the destination
On the company Overview, the Self-driving console sits at the top. Press Change the destination and write the one outcome this company exists to reach.Open CompanyStep 3: Add objectives
Under Objectives, name each one, pick what it is Measured by, and give it a target and a deadline.Step 4: Pick a tier and set the habitat
Choose Off, Plan, Assist or Drive, then set the caps in Habitat: the monthly budget for a new hire, the most seats allowed, and how often seats check in.Step 5: Read the morning briefing
Every morning the briefing shows objective progress, lessons and Decisions the company needs you for. Answer them and the next plan reads your answers.Open briefing
Which autonomy tier should I pick?#
Pick the tier that matches how much you want to approve; you can change it any time, and pausing the company always wins in every tier.
| Tier | What the company does | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|
| Off | Works only when you start a cycle or assign a task | You are setting the company up |
| Plan | The CEO plans every night and waits for your Go before anything runs | You want to read every plan first |
| Assist | Plans and runs on its own; every hire and gated run waits for you | You trust the plans and want to approve spending moves |
| Drive | Plans, runs, hires and approves gated runs inside the caps you set | You want the company to move at full speed inside firm limits |
How are objectives measured?#
Every objective reads a ledger at measurement time, so no number is typed in by hand and none is invented. Pick one of six metrics:
| Metric | Counted from |
|---|---|
| Settled revenue | Revenue collected by the company's seats since the objective started |
| Work shipped with proof | Tasks that reached done through a machine-checked proof |
| Tickets answered | Support and sales tickets replied to or closed |
| Sales leads received | Sales-lead tickets from the site form, email and outreach replies |
| Company site live | Whether the hosted company site is published |
| Seats working on a cadence | Seats on a check-in cadence that are not paused |
When does the company escalate to me?#
The company opens a decision only when judgment is needed, and keeps at most one open decision per subject. Decisions for you fills up on four triggers:
- A Plan-tier cycle produced a plan, which waits under Plan waiting for your Go.
- An objective is behind its target and no task serving it finished for two cycles in a row.
- A seat's task failed in this cycle and the one before.
- A seat hit its monthly cap and that pause is blocking an objective.
Answer with a choice, write your own answer in Or answer in your own words, or press Dismiss. Your answers feed straight into the next plan. Under Lessons you can add a note the CEO reads before every plan.
How do I control what the company spends?#
Set a monthly cap on each employee and each department. An hourly budget check pauses any seat that reaches its cap, and the briefing tells you which one, so a busy department never runs past the line you drew. The Agent passports table shows each seat's role, principal, budget, check-in cadence, status and what it needs you for.
Each department has its own workspace: Growth for outreach and campaigns, Support and sales for the ticket desk with its own daily auto-send cap, and Site and export for the hosted company site.
